Introduction to Arad, Israel
Visitors wanting the experience the Israeli wilderness will find it hard to beat Arad as this small city borders both the Negev and the Judean Deserts. The city is less than 50 years old, having been formed in the early 1960s and has a mixed immigrant population. It is not a major tourist destination and there are only four hotels in Arad of varying standards. The deserts are the big attraction and the first port of call from hotels in Arad should be the visitor centre in the downtown area. Here the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority provide visitor with an introduction to the Judean Desert's history and formation. You can also pick up information on local places of interest and buy maps showing the best hiking trails. The popular Artists Quarter (Eshet Lot) has several excellent galleries and is easy to reach from all of the Arad hotels.other spellings: aradhotels, arrad otel, arud hotell, urad hote, aarad hotles, arat hotes
