Located just to the east of the Sea of Galilee in the northernmost Golan Heights, an occupied area of Israel which borders Syria and Jordan, Afik is a small village with a population of just a few hundred. Most of the village life here is centred around the local kibbutz, which is also the centre of activities for visitors to the area. There is a large outdoor swimming pool open in the spring and summer as well as a play area for children, sports facilities and a nature trail which leads to a spring. Afik makes an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area, including the Sea of Galilee just a few miles to the west and the rest of the Golan Heights with its hilly terrain ideal for walking. Afik hotels are few in number, with the vast majority of accommodation centred in and around the town's hospitable kibbutz.
