Museum Negeri Nusa Tenggara Barat: the most famous museum in Lombok, this modern museum displays exhibits on the city’s geology, history and impressive culture through island weaponry, decorative arts, and artefacts. Those who want to buy local antiques or handicrafts from Lombok can take a look at a selection of daggers (kris), silver and gold threaded clothes (songket), basket ware and masks from the shops here.
Sembalun Lawang: is situated on the eastern slopes of Mount Rinjani, in the east of Lombok. It is the third largest volcano in all of Indonesia. From here, you can get very close to the famous active volcanic mountain and enjoy the stunning views.
Pura Lingsar: is one of the most important temples in Lombok and dates back to the year 1714. Known as the holiest place in the city, the temple has an outstanding structure which combines Balinese Hindu and Wektu Tele religions together in perfect union. The Hindu temple is located in the northern section while the Wektu Telu temple is located in the southern section featuring a small pond devoted to Lord Vishnu where you can also find the holy eels swimming gracefully.
If you plan to visit this temple, make sure you wear appropriate clothes or else a sarong can be rented at the front door before entering the temple.
Tanjung Aan: is a fascinating coastal area, housing unique coarse sand which resembles little peppercorns.
Taman Mayura: now a large artificial pool called Balai Kambang filled with many beautiful lotuses, Taman Mayura was once a legal court of justice and meeting hall. The exquisite architecture reveals a combination of Hindu and Islamic influences.
