Jakarta Travel Guide - Things To Do
Taman Mini Indonesia (Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park): the park is a culture-based recreational area located in east Jakarta. Regional handicrafts and textiles are displayed in houses that reflect the distinct traditional architectural styles of each province. The bird park with its walk-in aviary, fauna museum and the recreational grounds are all crowd pullers.
Other attractions include a mini Borobudur, several museums, an orchid garden with hundreds of Indonesian orchid varieties and several restaurants and theatres. Many locals will say that there is no need to visit other parts of Indonesia if you have visited the park.
Fantasy Land has a roller coaster, Ferris wheel and many other rides for the whole family to enjoy. Jaya Ancol also boasts a hotel and numerous shops.
Golf: golf courses can be found all across Jakarta as there are more than 40 courses to choose from. Many of the courses have been internationally acclaimed for their beautiful scenery, the landscaping of the courses and also the level of challenge. Even the most experienced golfers can find a course that will test their skills in Jakarta.
Exercise: there are several jogging paths around the city which become relatively crowded in the late evenings when the weather is cooler. A favourite spot for jogging is the National Monument. Tai Chi is also practised, mostly by the older Chinese residents, in the early mornings when the air is still fresh.
