Adam Malik Museum: a private collection that includes exquisite porcelain pieces and Asian works of art is displayed at the museum. The museum is named after the owner of the collection, former Vice President Adam Malik.

Central Museum or Gedung Gajah ‘Elephant Building’: the museum got its nickname of Elephant Building because of the stone elephant that sits on its front lawn. The stone elephant was a gift from King Chulalongkorn, of Thailand in 1871. Exhibits include pre-historical items and archaeological artefacts, some of which date back to the Stone Age.
Museum Seni Rupa dan Keramik (Jakarta Fine Arts Gallery Museum Seni): the old building that houses the museum was once the Palace of Justice and was built in 1870. The gallery displays paintings by many famous Indonesian artists. There is also an excellent collection of contemporary work including wood sculptures and part of Adam Malik’s Chinese ceramic collection.

Jakarta History Museum: is housed in a building that is over 370 years old and was once used by the Dutch East Indies Company as its Town Hall and later by Dutch army as military barracks and offices. Prince Diponegoro, who fought for the country’s independence, was kept in the military dungeons here before he was exiled. The museum’s exhibits include old maps and other antiquities that date back to the 16th century.

Textile Museum: displays textiles and machines that are made in Indonesia including silk, hand spun cotton and Javanese batik. Daily weaving demonstrations take visitors through the various stages of making Javanese batik.
