Tourists are strongly advised to refrain from eating poultry and if absolutely necessary ensure that the meat has been well cooked. It is also recommended that travellers avoid all direct contact with all poultry and birds.
The high level of air pollution in certain cities in Indonesia may aggravate pre-existing conditions such as asthma and sinus problems. It may also cause eye irritation and coughs. Travellers can wear a mask to help minimise the effects.
Vaccinations
Indonesia immigration entry regulations require visitors who have been in areas where there have been outbreaks of yellow fever within a year of their entry to obtain the necessary vaccinations prior to arrival in Indonesia. Proof of vaccination is needed. No other inoculations are required.
As a safety precaution however, you may consider being vaccinated against Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and typhoid if you intend to stay for more than two weeks. It is recommended that you get vaccinated at least six weeks prior to your departure.
