Introduction to Waikabubak, Indonesia
Waiheke Island is located in the Hauraki Gulf and is less than 20kms from Auckland, making it highly accessible and as you might expect, absolutely gorgeous. It is the second-largest island in the gulf in terms of land mass behind Great Barrier Island and is the most populated, with more than 8,000 permanent residents and half that many residents with weekend getaways or summer homes on the island. As tourism is pretty much the only industry here, the options every step of the way span the entire spectrum of luxury and price. Public ferries are the cheapest option to get here, but private yachts are available as well. The island's beaches are the main draw, with Oneroa Beach, Blackpool Beach and Cactus Bay being favourites. Waiheke Island hotels are similarly diverse in their offerings, and the price you will pay for them. The name of the island means 'Descending Waters', which is supposedly a reference to a Maori explorer who landed on the island and urinated to mark the occasion. other spellings: waikabubak otel, waikabubuk hotell, wiakabobak hote, waikabubakhotels
