Pekanbaru is an important commercial hub in Sumatra, Indonesia with plenty of useful amenities for travellers. Pekanbaru hotels range from top quality five-star hotels to cheap standard hotels. Pekanbaru sits almost in the centre of the northern areas of Sumatra, with the Straits of Malacca to the east and the Indian Ocean to the west. As far as tourist attractions go, this city is not one of Indonesia’s best destinations. Most of the scenery in the city is industrial, dirty and a bit run down. To get to Pekanbaru there are flights from Kuala Lumpur, and Malacca.
