Introduction to Pasuruan, Indonesia
Pasuruan is on the east coast of Java, Indonesia, south of Surabaya. About 50kms inland from Pasuruan are the volcanic mountains of Mount Welirang and Mount Arjuno. Trekking in the mountains can be arranged from Surabaya, so travellers looking for some time away from the coast will enjoy this excursion. Another great place for some very dramatic mountain scenery is the Bromo Tengarr Semeru National Park. Mount Bromo is another volcanic mountain that lures adventurous travellers seeking unspoiled nature and wildlife. This region is known for its handicrafts and embroidery in small villages like Beji, Bangil and Keraton. A handful of impressive ancient temples can also be explored for a look at the spiritual side of eastern Java. Golfers will find the golf courses here as lush and exciting as they come, and the agro-tourism industry has created a number of lovely farmstays and eco-lodges. Surabaya, however, still has the majority of the amenities due to the commercial aspect to the city.
