Introduction to Pangandaran, Indonesia
The small community of Pangandaran, Indonesia is a popular stop for many tourists as they travel between the cities of Bandung and Yogyakarta. This municipality's main attractions are undoubtedly its beaches, ranked among the most beautiful on the entire large island of Java. These beaches are most famous for their distinctive sands of black volcanic ash, used in several local beauty products, and their outstanding surfing. Virtually all Pangandaran hotels let guests know about the local surfing schools and instructors. A narrow land strip separates the nearby peninsula containing the nature reserve called Penanjung Pangandaran from the rest of the community. Visitors can also hire boats and sail towards the deserted and appropriately named Paradise Island for a day. Secondary rainforests form 80 per cent of this nature reserve's land, from which visitors can watch the sun go down at West Beach and the sun come up at East Beach.
