Introduction to Manado, Indonesia
Manado is one of the largest provincial centres on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. It is in the north eastern tip of that island, which itself is in the northern part of the Indonesian archipelago. Manado hotels face the harbour and the water, in general, and this is very much a water oriented town. Indeed, Manado is set to host the World International Ocean Conference in 2009 and as a result, many hotels in Manado have undergone extensive refurbishments and renovations in order to prepare for the influx of tourists, business people and conference delegates that are expected to arrive for this large event. Some Manado hotels are located near the Manado Town Square or the aptly named Manado Mega Mall which is one of the largest buildings on the entire Sulawesi Island.
