Introduction to Lombok - Medana Beach
The gateway to the popular Gili Islands, Lombok's Medana Beach has much to offer visitors. It is a great destination for an exotic island vacation. The peninsula upon which the beach is situated can be found on the northwest coast of the island and houses some of the island's most luxurious resorts. However, more budget-friendly Medana Beach hotels can also be found just back from the coast. Medana Beach is fast becoming a popular tourist getaway and the new Medana Bay Marina makes it a great place to use as a base for exploring the Gili Islands. This spot is known for its superb diving and snorkelling and fantastic marine life can be seen locally. It is easy to hike up Mount Rinjani, an active volcano with a caldera at the top, 2,000 metres above sea level.
