Introduction to Ketapang, Indonesia
The name of the Indonesian regency and city of Ketapang comes from a Malay term for a fruit which grows in the area. Visitors to this part of West Kalimantan on the southeast coast of Borneo may stay in Ketapang hotels situated within the city or venture towards the many resorts on the regency's numerous beaches. The beaches which receive the greatest amounts of tourists here are Tanjung Batu, Pulau Datok, and the nearest beach to the city, Sungai Jawi. There is a sizable Chinese population in this regency, and the Chinese temple of Kelenteng Tua Pek Kong is one of the city's most distinctive landmarks. However, the regency's most popular tourist attraction of all is Gunung Palung National Park. This massive park extends into the neighbouring regency of North Kayong and is one of the few locations on Earth where untamed orangutans can easily be seen. Caves and hot springs are also important parts of Gunung Palung National Park. other spellings: ketapang otel, ketapeng hotell, katapang hote, ketepang hotels, ketapan
