Introduction to Flores - Labuan Bajo
The island of Flores is one of Indonesia's most exotic yet accessible travel destinations. It lies to the east of Bali, making it a good overnight boat journey from its more popular neighbour. Labuan Bajo is the main port town on Flores, providing easy jumping-off points to check out the dragons of komodo at Rinca Island and Komodo Island. For stunning scuba diving and snorkelling, Seraya Island and Kanawa Island are also just offshore from Labuan Bajo. This is a small town dedicated almost entirely to regional tourism. There are more than enough choices for eating, drinking and trinket shopping but don't expect anything too fancy. Due to the volume of tourists passing through, Labuan Bajo hotels are plentiful and cheap. Few visitors spend more than a night or two in transit here, but it's still a pleasant enough place to rest up.
