Introduction to Blitar, Indonesia
The community and regency of Blitar, Indonesia is best known as the place where the nation's founding father, Sukarno, was born and buried. Most Blitar hotels are affordable and traditional Indonesian accommodations named losmen, situated in the city centre. However, the community's highlights can just as easily be seen in only one day. Sukarno grew up in Istana Gebang, which eventually became his presidential palace and is now home to a large memorial library. Makam Bung Karno, Sukarno's grave, has become a shrine and is located five kilometres north of the community. The nearby village of Ngeglok is the home of East Java's biggest ancient Hindu temple, Candi Penataran, which contains three courtyards. Other local temples include East Java's widest temple complex, Penataran, and Rambut Monte Temple, which contains a huge fishing pond.
