The Ciumbuleuit area of Indonesia's North Bandung is one of the liveliest in the entire city and home to the prestigious Catholic University of Parahyangan. Jalan Ciumbuleuit, filled with shops and eateries as well as strange life-sized superhero sculptures, is the main road here. It extends into Lembang, which is the gateway to Mount Tangkuban Petahu, an active volcano that is well-known for its great hiking. Ciumbuleuit is home to many of Bandung's expats and local elite. As a result, Ciumbuleuit hotels are some of the city's most luxurious, although there is also a good selection of options for those on a tighter budget. Being a university area, the district has plenty of hip cafés to eat in as well as cheap street stalls found close to the campus.
