Introduction to Bali - Gianyar
Bali's Gianyar is an area, or regency, in the southeastern part of this island paradise. It is most famous for being home to the famous town of Ubud. Ubud is a must-visit for all those visiting the island of Bali. It is known as the cultural and artistic centre of the island and is home to many galleries showcasing local art, such as wood carving and paintings. A dance performance here should not be missed. The Agung Rai Museum of Art and the Hindu temple in town are well worth visiting. Many areas in Gianyar are of historical and archaeological interest. The Goa Gajah cave temple is one of these areas. The beautifully carved facade of this UNESCO World Heritage temple is amazing. There are also beautiful rock carvings at Yeh Pulu, on the road to Ubud.
