Tourists looking for that relaxed, coastal holiday needn't look any further than Bali's bastion of relaxation, Bunutan. Standing as part of the larger community of Amed, this beach village is as laid-back as visitors can get. It is only about two hours to the north of the island's international airport by taxi, making it easy to reach. The village formerly relied heavily on the production of salt for its economy, but the last few years have seen tourism become the most significant money-making aspect of the town. Bunutan Beach is the most popular tourist attraction in the village. Even though it is a black-sand beach, the coastline on which it sits is tremendously beautiful. In addition to the beach, the Mini Zoo is only a short distance from Bunutan hotels. Cockatoos, tortoises, lorikeets, pythons, porcupines and more await visitors here.
