Lake Pichola: one of the best ways to see Udaipur is by taking a boat trip on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. The city rises majestically above the lake in the middle of the Rajasthan desert and the stunning City Palace can be seen along its eastern banks.
The two islands in the lake are crowned with white domes and arches of private palaces. Jag Niwas is the larger of the two and the palace can be visited for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. There are some memorable views of the shoreline and palaces from the lake at sunset.
Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary: is closer to the city and billed as Udaipur's finest garden. It's a peaceful and relaxing place and contains a wide variety of indigenous trees and plants. Unfortunately, it has suffered from neglect as many of the fountains are no longer working.
Handicraft Shopping: there is some good handicraft shopping in the city, with the main shopping streets running from the City Palace along Jagdish Temple Street to the clock tower and beyond to Hathi Pol. The Bapu Bazaar and Ashwini markets are recommended. Udaipur is a good place to buy pichhwai paintings; wall hangings painted on cloth or silk, featuring scenes from Krishna's life.
