Mysore Travel Guide - Getting There
By air: Bangalore Airport is predominantly a domestic airport with a few select international routes. These include direct flights to and from Frankfurt, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London and Bangkok. Once at the airport you have a choice of train, bus, taxi or hire car for the connection to Mysore.
By train: the city's main railway station has daily services to Bangalore, Chennai, Thanjavur as well as smaller and lesser known Indian cities. The Mysore-Chennai Shatabdi Express is the best way to reach either Bangalore or Chennai. The train is more expensive than other services but is significantly more comfortable, offering air-conditioned carriages, meals and drinks, all of which are included in the price.
By car: driving in India can be dangerous, especially at night. There is a good network of roads that connects Mysore to the other important cities in the region. There is a new four lane expressway between Bangalore and Mysore which takes about three hours to drive.
