By air: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, also known as Dum Dum, is situated about 20kms from the city centre. Kolkata is a major hub for domestic and international flights, offering daily direct flights to and from all major cities in India. Taxis from the airport are easily available and cheap.
By train: Kolkata is very well linked by train. Howrah Junction is made up of the adjoining Old and New Howrah stations. It connects the city with most other parts of the country. Trains to destinations farther east and to the northern areas of West Bengal often depart from Sealdah Station. The Indrail pass gives travellers unlimited travel for a certain period of time.
