Camel Safari: embark on a Camel Safari and ride on one of the ships of the desert as man did in India long ago. Camel safaris originate from the time of trade between India and China, when camel caravans would ply established trade routes, carrying spices, herbs and jewels.
Elephant Safaris: are a fantastic way to see the countryside around Jaipur and beyond. One hour trips to week-long treks are available. Elephant safaris between Jaipur and Pushkar, organised by some tour operators, are very worthwhile.
Band Playing (Ram Niwas Bagh): an age old tradition, has been revived by the Department of Tourism at the Ram Niwas Bagh. This entertainment programme is held every Saturday evening. The tradition was started by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh in 1872 AD. He invited a band master from Germany and formed a group which played every Monday evening after sunset.
Rantambhore National Park: consists of three wildlife preserves. The former official hunting ground of Jaipur royalty, the park is now home to the imposing Royal Bengal Tiger. The park is 145kms from Jaipur and can be reached by railway, stopping off at the Sawai Madhopur station.
