Bus: are the favoured means of getting about in Goa as they are cheap and plentiful. The disadvantage is that they often get overcrowded and are not always punctual.
Motorbike: are easy to hire and a great way to visit some of the more remote beaches and villages. Check the bike before paying for it as not all bikes are in the best of condition.
Taxi: there are two different types of taxi available: the six seater and the private taxi. The six seater taxi is cheaper but stops whenever there is a passenger and the van isn’t full. Taxis can be found at taxi stands and outside hotels.
Motorcycle taxi: are a great way to travel if you are alone. Motorcycle taxis have a yellow front mudguard and can be stopped anywhere. You should agree on a price before getting on the motorbike, but it is cheap way to get around.
Ferry: travelling on a ferry in Goa is a novel experience as they are usually crowded with cars, buses, commuters on scooters, locals and tourists. Ferries play an important transportation role in Goa as they travel on the coastal backwaters and rivers.
There are ferries from Panjim to Betim across the Mandovi; Old Goa to Divar Island; Divar to Naroa; Siolim to Chopdem and Salcete to Assolna. Ferry services can be quite irregular during the monsoon season.
