Goa Travel Guide - Day Trips
Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary: located near Molem village, this is Goa’s largest wildlife preserve. It is a paradise for animal lovers and bird watchers, but patience is needed to spot the herds of animals such as deer and gaurs (Indian bison) and monkeys. There are also Malayan giant squirrels, cobras and pythons as well as elephants, tigers and a few black panthers which roam freely in Molem National Park, which is the heart of the sanctuary.
Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary: is overgrown with mangroves and other plants making it the perfect home for many birds including migratory birds. To get to the sanctuary, you will have to take a ferry from Ribandar to Chorao and then walk the short distance to the park.
Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary: is covered with thick undergrowth, dense forests and vines. Left in its natural state, the sanctuary is the second largest of the three wildlife sanctuaries in Goa and is a popular spot for viewing reptiles such as crocodiles.
