Taxis: one of the easiest and most convenient ways of travelling in Delhi is to hail its black and yellow taxis. Taxis are metered but taxi drivers may occasionally ‘forget’ to turn on their meters so always double check before setting off. Always find another taxi if the driver refuses to use the meter or claims that it is broken.
Taxi Scooters: are metered so make sure that the driver turns on the meter before he starts. Riding on a taxi scooter is quite an experience as some of the younger drivers can be daredevils, but it is a quick and cheap way of getting around the city.
The Delhi Transport Corporation runs a large fleet of buses that service the entire city and schedules are available at railway stations.
Auto-rickshaws: technology has influenced everything including the trishaw which is now motorised. This is an economical way of travelling, but is limited to two passengers. The auto-rickshaws are metered and can be found all over the city.
Bicycle and foot: cycling and walking are great ways of getting around the city but you should always carry a map with you. It is also wise to be careful of other cyclists as they tend to swerve into your path at inconvenient moments.
