Introduction to West Bengal, India
In the far eastern corner of India is the state of West Bengal, bordering Bangladesh and Nepal. There are a number of important Indian cities in West Bengal, including Kolkata, Darjeeling and Siliguri. What makes this region so alluring to travellers is its mix of bustling cities, world-class nature preserves and ancient monuments. Among the five national parks in the state, the Sundarbans is arguably the most impressive. This UNESCO site is home to rare Bengal tigers and other exotic species among its vast mangrove forests. The Himalayan foothills around Darjeeling are another hotspot for travellers interested in trekking, tea plantations and cool climes. There is also plenty of ancient history in West Bengal, such as the temples at Bishnupur or the palaces of Murshidabad. Visitors can even lounge on a beach here, such as at Digha, a popular weekend jaunt for residents of Kolkata. There are excellent choices for hotels in West Bengal everywhere there is a tourism scene, almost all at very reasonable prices.other spellings: wesbengal otel, wet bengal hotell, wet begal hote, wet begel hotes
