Introduction to Vapi, India
In the Indian state of Gujarat is the industrial city of Vapi. Chemical manufacturing makes up 70 per cent of the economy here, a situation that has earned Vapi notoriety as one of the world's most polluted places. As a result, there is little consideration for tourism and few attractions to warrant a visit. Pollution aside, the Damanganga River runs right through the city and is the best spot to enjoy a meal or a drink in the evening. There are dozens of little restaurants and bars lining the river, which is popular with locals after work. GIDC Garden is the city's main public park, offering people a calm and relatively clean environment to jog or walk. Just along the coast is Daman, where visitors can find nice beaches such as Devka and Princess Park for a day outing.
