Introduction to Uttarakhand, India
Divided into the western part of Garhwal, and the eastern part of Kumaon, Uttarakhand is a breathtakingly surreal state of Northern India. The state is the stepping platform to the Himalayan plateau, and offers some of the world’s most scenic mountain areas. Hotels in Uttarakhand are found within most of the major cities, including Dehradun, Chamba, and Rishikesh. Even though this region of India is remote from the busier megalopolises further south, there are a surprising number of tourists that reach the state of Uttarakhand each year. Many of the Uttarakhand hotels will not require reservations, but it is recommended to book the more expensive hotels in Uttarakhand before arriving to the city. The most important cities in the region are generally the most visited cities too, such as the yoga capital Rishikesh, the holy city of Haridwar and the nature-based town of Chamba.
