The city of Thekkady may not be as famous as other cities in the Indian region of Kerala, but it certainly isn't afraid to hide from the spotlight. There isn't a wide selection of hotels in Thekkady, yet visitors are guaranteed a comfortable night’s sleep, particularly after a long day of sightseeing the surrounding attractions. Nature walks are a popular activity among tourists to the locality, as are elephant rides, boating and bamboo rafting. The most common highlight of Thekkady is its abundance of wild tigers. Most tour agents in town can provide information about the tiger tours offered to tourists. Yet tigers aren't the only animal that is regularly spotted here. Sambar deer, wild pigs and lion-tailed macaques all call the city’s surrounding parklands home.
