Introduction to Rajkot, India
Rajkot is not only India's 28th largest city and the fourth-most populated city in the northwest state of Gujarat, but it is also the 22nd most rapidly growing cities in the world. This city may be most famous as the place where Mahatma Gandhi spent his earliest education years, and Gandhi's former primary school is now a high school which bears his name. Gandhi's former childhood home has become a museum called Kaba Gandhi No Delo which contains photographs and other memorabilia from his life. However, the best known Gandhi-related attraction in the city is the Rashtriya Shala institution, which began in a modest rented structure, but is now an impressive red-coloured building with its own clock tower. Another significant building constructed from red stone is Jagat Mandir Temple, but Swaminarayan Temple is an equally important city landmark. Several 13th century carvings are exhibited at the Watson Museum, dedicated to the local Saurashtra culture as well as Colonel John Watson. Approximately half of Rajkot hotels are budget accommodations, while the rest are mid-range or luxury places to stay.other spellings: rajkothotels, rahkot hotell, raajkot otel, rajkott hote, rajiot hotle
