Introduction to Rajasthan, India
Rajasthan covers much of the northwestern region of India on the border with Pakistan. It is a reasonably large state that offers some of India’s most prolific temples and most astonishing natural landscapes. Hotels in Rajasthan can be found in the main cities of the region, including Jaipur, Bikaner and Jodhpur. Rajasthan has become one of the most important tourist destinations in India, teeming with magnificent and memorable landmarks like the Amber Fort in Jaipur and Rhanthambhore National Park’s wildlife sanctuary. Most of the landmarks are in or near to the region’s larger cities, which all contain a full array of traveller amenities. Forts and temples are the main attractions within this dry and dusty region, and are direct influences from both the British colonial period and ancient Hindi traditions of the region. The Aravalis mountain ranges can also be seen in Rajasthan, and are considered to be the oldest mountain area in the world.
