Introduction to Mumbai - Bandra West
The Bandra area is one of the most enjoyable suburbs of the gigantic city of Mumbai, offering an excellent range of natural, historic and cultural attractions to ameliorate some of the heat, dirt and frenetic activity of this city of more than 20 million people. Hotels in Bandra West put you within a stone's throw of an impressive coastline, from which sunsets can be enjoyed, as well as fine views of Mumbai's towering apartments and office blocks from the shores of Mahim Bay. As well as the attractive location, there are also excellent transport links here. A few minutes to the east, several railway stations provide access to the local main line. The Western Expressway originates to the south, putting both Juhu Airport and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport only a few minutes away. There is a great selection of Christian churches here, too. The most notable of these is Mount Mary's Church, which is located to the south of the area. A couple of minutes farther south, at Land's End (Bandra's most southerly point), sit the rugged remains of Castella de Aguada, a fort built by the Portuguese in the 17th century.
