Introduction to Mangalore, India
The port city of Mangalore is one of the principal urban hubs on southwest India’s Malabar Coast. There are abundant Mangalore hotels scattered around the city. The city centre is focused on Hampankatta, just north of the city railway station and the old port. In this district there are travellers style hostels, shops, restaurants, tea houses and a choice of hotels in Mangalore. North of this district is the main beach, Tannir Bavi, and the new port facility. There are additional Mangalore hotels in this precinct. Among tourist sites in town are the old British era watchtower and the Srimanthi Bai Museum. Across the River Netravti, on the south side of Mangalore, Panambur Beach is a less busy location for a swim or a relaxing day of sunbathing. This beach is also the place to try and catch that elusive perfect sunset.
