Introduction to Jaisalmer, India
Jaisalmer hotels can be located in the fort town itself, a crumbling rampart of medieval alleyways and holes in walls that lead to surprisingly cavernous structures hidden away behind glowing entrance caves. Many more hotels in Jaisalmer lay around the base of the mountain in the bustling markets and retail areas that lead to the fort. There are some very luxurious resorts and five star hotels that are more discreetly located. The night market area is very active though due care should be taken of an evening here, for the usual dangers and hazards like pickpockets and be very wary of dipping into the bang lassi, a hash tinged yoghurt drink that is offered for sale. All hotels in Jaisalmer will be able to provide you with information on the ubiquitous camel safaris and treks that leave from here, and also, there are many horse riding lessons and other such activities available.
