Introduction to Haryana, India
Haryana is a state in the northern tip of India, best known as a Hindu pilgrimage site. As one of India's most ancient and important regions, Haryana is home to several sacred rivers and temples as well as famous cities like Chandigarh. Tourists flock here each February for the Surajkund Crafts Mela, a wonderful fair that promotes Indian handicrafts and art. Among the many natural highlights in the state, Yadvindra Gardens and Karna Lake are two of the most popular tourist destinations. There are more than a dozen government-designated tourist complexes, with many kinds of Haryana hotels, resorts and camping areas. There are a number of golf courses in the area as well, often connected with one of the tourist complexes. Visit the town of Gurgaon for historic sites like Sohna Fort and Taoru Fort, while Bhiwani is home to the amazing Star Monument.
