Goa is a popular sea-side resort area lying on the west coast of India. It is also one of this country’s smallest states. Many people travelling India make a stop in this census town for its historical attractions and stunning large beaches, which are amongst the most famous in the country. Perhaps the best-loved and frequented of these beaches is Calangute, which even features its own like-named town. Here, tourists will find no shortage of Goa hotels, most of which are located a short walk from its gorgeous beaches. December to May sees the greatest number of tourists, while the monsoon season (June to September) and its raging wind, rain and sea swells generally makes the beach a no-go area. Boating, sailing, parasailing and other water sports are popular past times here. The local marketplaces in Goa, or tinto, also attract throngs of tourists for their wide array of ridiculously cheap merchandise.
