In 1911, the British moved from Calcutta, the then capital of India, to New Delhi. They named New Delhi as the new capital and it was inaugurated in 1931. Following this move, two talented British architects were employed to design and oversee the building of a city that would be aligned with the splendour of the buildings in the area.
