Introduction to Bulandshahr, India
Near the Nepalese border in India's Uttar Pradesh State is the town of Bulandshahr, an ancient settlement with a place in Hindu mythology and a history of early Indian kings. The Kali-Nadi River runs along one side of the town, helping to create a refreshing atmosphere in this arid part of India. Remnants of the town's 3,000 year history can be seen here, including the landmark tower of King Ahibaran and the ancient residence of the kings at Upper Court. The city centre is where visitors will find most of the restaurants, shops, services and hotels in Bulandshahr. While certainly boasting a few notable ancient attractions, Bulandshahr is mostly a residential town with a nice local vibe. Visitors can get a taste of northern Indian life here without as many of the touts and hassles of more popular tourist destinations in the state. The Northern Railway line offers the most convenient transportation here, with daily trains to Allahbad and Meerut.
