Introduction to Bangalore - Shivaji Nagar
Shivaji Nagar is a district in the southwestern Indian city of Bangalore, with over 75 per cent of its residents following the Muslim faith. The district is mainly residential and is home to Bundelkhand University and Maharani Lakshmi Bai Medical College. The district is close to lovely Ulsoor Lake and central Cubbon Road, the city's sports stadium and Cubbon Park with its many historical sites. A few mainly budget Shivaji Nagar hotels are found here, conveniently located for the heritage and shopping areas in the city centre. Cubbon Park is the city's landmark green lung, dating from 1870 and with an area of around 300 acres landscaped to include rocky outcrops, fine colonial heritage architecture such as the city's museum and the stunning scarlet colonnaded High Court, fountains, statuary and a glorious mix of plant and tree species. The central shopping area, with its malls and markets, is just a short distance from Shivaji Nagar.Visit our Bangalore Travel Guide
