Introduction to Bangalore - Seshadripuram
Seshadripuram is a small central area of Bangalore, known mainly for its college, the nearby Bangalore Golf Course and the Bangalore Turf Club. Set in High Grounds district between the golf club's grounds and those of the turf club's racecourse are a number of upscale luxury five-star Seshadripuram hotels, together with other less exalted lodgings. The par 71 golf course is India's second oldest, founded in 1876, with the racecourse established some 40 years later. Close by, off Palace Road, is the spectacular Bangalore Palace, built 150 years ago as a smaller replica of Windsor Castle but closer in style to the Disneyworld castle. The building was purchased by the Maharaja of Mysore, whose descendants still own the elaborate structure. Its extensive grounds are used regularly for outdoor events and festivals.
