India’s fastest growing city of Bangalore is also home to the country’s fourth busiest airport. Bengaluru International Airport, 44kms north of the centre of Bangalore in a community called Devanahalli, officially opened in 2008, making it one of the world’s newest and most modern international airports. At the moment, there are no hotels in Bangalore Airport itself, but that will soon change once a planned 321-room luxury resort complete with spa and conference facilities opens its doors within walking distance of the airport. Until then, passengers will have to rely on Bengaluru International Airport’s air-conditioned taxi cabs or airport shuttle bus service to transport them to the progressive and modern city of Bangalore. A proposed high-speed rail service linking Bangalore Airport to the rest of the city has also been recently approved. Bengaluru International Airport’s other amenities include restaurants, duty-free shops, and a medical centre open 24 hours.
