Introduction to Aurangabad - City Centre
Aurangabad, India was recently declared the tourism capital for the state where it is located, Maharashtra. This historic city was originally established in 1610 and is currently one of the world’s fastest growing cities. Aurangabad has also become a popular place to visit and stay because it is the closest city to the historic caves of Ellora and Ajanta, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Hotels in Aurangabad city centre are generally the most affordable in the whole city, and only accommodations close to the city’s rail station rival Aurangabad city centre hotels in terms of low cost. Mid range hotels in Aurangabad city centre are also widely available, as is the case in other parts of the city, while Aurangabad’s most luxurious five and four-star accommodations can be found close to Chikalthana Airport. Aside from the nearby Ellora and Ajanta cave, another of Aurangabad’s main attractions is Bibi Ka Maqbara. This impressive maqbara, or grave, was constructed by Prince Azam Shah in tribute to his mother.
