In the depths of winter, you won’t see much daylight in Reykjavik, with just over four hours a day at the end of December. January sees around three sunny days, while the roads can be dangerously icy, and the city is dominated by chilling winds.
The most popular time for tourists is from June to August, where there is little darkness and the climate is at its most pleasant. The vast majority of tourism takes place in these summer months, although Reykjavik does also see a little pre Christmas boom, as well as people going to see the Northern Lights, aurora borealis.
