Reykjavik is a good city for those who like museums and galleries, with a good number detailing all aspects of Icelandic culture and history. The National Museum, with over 200 items is a good starting point, but there are also some other interesting places, such as the Saga Museum with its life-like models or the open air folk museum.
The key attractions here include the Lutheran Cathedral built in the 18th century and the Church of Hallgrimur, which can be seen from 10 miles away. It’s the highest point in the city and provides some impressive views.
Reykjavik has quite a lively nightlife scene, and you’ll find plenty of locals and tourists revelling in it. While Icelandic cuisine might not be world famous, you will find it tasty, with a focus on fresh produce and healthy food.
As Iceland is an island, transport options here are limited to air and sea. There are a good number of destinations both in Europe and North America providing flights to Reykjavik.
