The lake is slightly radioactive; however, it is the various algae and the warm water temperature that are thought to generate the health benefits. Heviz is positioned close to Lake Balaton, the largest body of water in the region and itself a major tourist draw.
Egregy: approximately 2.5kms from the town centre, Egregy used to be a separate entity and still boasts its impressive 13th century church and distinctive wine culture. The district is home to a number of vineyards and wine cellars with plenty of wines on offer to taste and take home.
Aside from any health benefits to people, the lake is also home to unique flora and fauna. In summer, the lilies and the flowers on the lake are particularly attractive.
Schulhof Promenade: leading to the main entrance of the lake, Schulhof Promenade is an attractive garden of numerous tree species and summer blooms as well as a public art collection. It’s the perfect place for an afternoon stroll.
