Made up of the two formerly separated cities on each side of the Danube river – Buda and Pest – the Hungarian capital is a stunningly beautiful city of nearly two million people, commonly dubbed the ‘Paris of the East’. The city is dominated by grand centuries-old monuments linked by epic bridges of the Danube that are lit up at night with a smattering of Communist-era relics thrown in for good measure.
