Danubius Hotel Gellert - Budapest

The wonderful, listed building Danubius Hotel Gellert is located on the bank of Danube River, at the base of Gellert Hill. It is about a 15 minute pleasant stroll over the bridge to the famous shopping street, entertainment and historic building of the city centre or alternatively can catch a tram into the city, which stops steps from the hotel. Rooms are uniquely decorated in a traditional style and equipped with good facilities. The Hungarian Art Nouveau-style Danubius Hotel Gellert features stain glass windows and offers extensive range of spa facilities including a Turkish bath.

The restaurants are located on the ground floor and serve top quality cuisine. There is a traditional cafe which is very popular.

The lobby is medium in size and much as it would have been several decades ago with its wood reception desk and antique furniture. Whilst it may look a little tired it is a throwback to the old Hungary.

This is a stunning building and is justifiably seen as a historical landmark in the city. Overlooking the Danube river the smooth white stone facade is grand in appearance and has a beautiful art deco entrance.
