Introduction to Budapest - Ujlipotvaros
The name of the Ujlipotvaros neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary translates to New Leopold Town in English. This neighbourhood is part of Budapest's District XIII in the Pest section of the city, on the River Danube's banks. Ujlipotvaros may be primarily a commercial and residential area, but there are quite a few three- and four-star Ujlipotvaros hotels. The district is also the home of Budapest Beach, a 1,500m strip where cars are replaced by palm trees and sand each summer in the middle of Budapest. Food stalls, restaurants, bars, stages where live musicians perform and special programmes for children are all part of this temporary beach. Live summer entertainment also frequently occurs at Szent Istvan Park, a relaxing place with a large fountain at its centre as well as several memorials, statues and green spaces throughout the park.
