Introduction to Yona, Guam
Out in the middle of the Pacific sits the tiny island nation of Guam. On the cliffs above Pago Bay, along country's southeastern coast, sits the village of Yona. The Pago and Togcha rivers flow through the village and over two waterfalls that are natural highlights of the area. During WWII, prison camps were built in the Manenggon area to house indigenous Chammorros while the country was overtaken by Japan. A visit to these camps helps tourists understand a solemn but important facet of Guam's history. Today, the village is known for its luxury golf courses, particularly Leo Palace Resort that looks out over the village from the Manenggon Hills. Visitors staying in Yona hotels can spend the day relaxing at Taga'Chang Beach Park or practice their swing at one of the three golf courses in the area. Turtle Cove Beach is an important breeding ground for sea turtles and birds. During the first weekend of October, visitors can participate in the village feast and fiesta for Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of Yona.other spellings: yona hotels, yonna otel, yonna hotell, hotein yona, hotelin yona, yona hotes
