Metro: to travel by metro is one of the most efficient and easiest way of getting around Athens. There are 3 metro lines: Line 1, running from the Piraeus to Kifissia; Line 2, beginning at Agios Antonios and ending at Agios Dimitrios and Line 3, beginning at Monastiraki and travelling to Doukissis Plakentias and Athens International Airport.
Tickets are available at all stations, although they must be validated before travel. Single, return, group, daily and weekly tickets are all available.
Train: if the metro does not serve where you want to go, it is possible to catch a suburban train. These services are known as proastiakos and commence at Larissis Station, terminating at Athens International Airport.
Bus: many local buses operate in the city, all of which are run by the Athens Urban Transport Organisation. Travelling by bus is relatively inexpensive and convenient to get to Athens International Airport, while night buses are perfect for those travelling long distances at night.
